The concept for the engagement ring was first sketched out in November 2004.  It was presented to Marty Charach of Broadway Jewelers and his goldsmith, Ken, in December 2004.  Marty had the task of finding the right diamonds for the ring - the most important being the center diamond.  Indeed, he didn't disappoint.  The ring was ready just one day prior to Doug proposing, and fortunately it didn't need to be resized!

Many thanks to the following people who provided helpful design input: Bill Ng, Elisa Chan, Elisa Charach, Yume Kohno ("there is no such thing as too many diamonds"), Grace and Darrell Yip, Joming Lee, Elizabeth Lim, and Theresa Chan.
